The purpose of examining the breast is to detect any possible breast cancer. Early detection will enable you to seek prompt treatment, thus, preventing complications which may arise later. However, note that while this method could prove helpful in the detection of breast cancer, you should not substitute it for screening methods (i.e. Mammography) that have been proven effective.
